Before my first season abroad

Before my first season abroad

I got a contract for the first time in a foreign club.

This post will be focused on the players and coaches who have decided to accept the contract in a foreign country for the first time. What should they watch out for before they travel to professional clubs.

What is necessary to deal with, before my travel to another country. These steps are important to go through after signing the contract by both parties.

The most important thing to do, is to find out on what address is my embassy and verify their phone number, so I know how to contact them in case of emergency situations. You can freely contact them before going abroad and make sure if the contact which you have is good and if you can contact them in case of emergency and ask for help. It is also good to let them know in advance that you will be there and might be in need of their help.

It is necessary to check whether your passport validity of is up to date, also in some countries you need to have a valid passport for several months before the date of expiration, depending on the country you are visiting, you need to find this out.

Find out if you need a visa to country you are visiting and if so, how long can you stay there, for example only with a tourists visa.

Try to verify the ticket which the club have ordered for you, if it´s not just one way but also two way return ticket. In case, if you need to book the ticket for an earlier return home, find out how much you have to pay for changing the flight, whether paying this amount will be your responsibility or the responsibility of your club, in case that the season ends much earlier than expected.

Also try to find out what is the weight of your luggage which you can take on a plane and also the bag carried on board to evade that your luggage will have overweight and you will not be able to pay the extra kg. It depends on airlines, find out via the Internet or call the concrete airport, they have to give you this information.

Another important information for you is to contact the person, which will be waiting for you after your arrival at the airport. Secure at least two contacts, for example the manager of the team and one person who will be waiting for you. Do not forget the address of the team in which you will operate. After your arrival, check if your room is alright, whether it is providing everything on what you agreed in advance.

Any cases of complaint try to solve either on place or through the agent which represents you and he already knows what to do.

Never forget about the particularities of the country in which you arrived, keep in mind that it is a foreign country, you are stranger for them and they are strangers for you.

We wish you a pleasant and non problematic operation in your new team.
