How impressed that they chose me
Topic of today’s blog will be how to capture the teams attention to choose me.
How to get a team’s attention to pick me? You have several options. One of the option is to get an attention of a scout, agent, coach in a training, on the match or via internet if you consider a club in a different country.
Today we will discuss how to write a CV (sports resume), so you will impress. The sports CV differs from the profession CV that you have to include your parameters like: height, weight, range of your hands, size of your feet, vertical jump, block jump, etc.
You have to include in which clubs have you played in previous years:
Name of the club, level of the league, which year have you played there and optionally your statistics for that particular year.
Another important factor is to write your achievement in the league and cups.
Also you should mention if you played for your national team and in which category have you played and don´t forget to mention some achievements of that category.
An integral part of the CV (resume) is your video. Clubs daily receive lots of emails and offers. If it catches the eye of a coach or manager you should have a highlight video of your game (it should be more than a minute but maximum of 10 minutes). First they watch the highlight and when you impress them they will ask for a video of a whole match, at least 2-3 videos. You have to be ready an advance and make the video best as you can.
Shortened video should be composed of your best moments, whether it is just from one match or more matches. Video should contain particular sequence. Experienced coach, manager, scout sees according to your movements on which performance level you are. Never attempt to cheat, for example to accelerate the video, they will always find out and you can only make it bad for yourself.
The video should contain:
VOLLEYBALL: reception, attack, block, serve.
FOOTBALL: pass, throw in, defense, corner kicks, attacks, finishing (goals).
Basketball: pass, 3 point shots, free throws, finishing in air
HANDBALL: pass, defense, finishing
Of course it also depends on the positions you play. You can ask your statistic person to help you with editing the video and they might even do it for you. And certainly ask for permission from your club to record a video on the web and present it.
After editing the video you have to upload it on the internet, so the coaches can watch them online and don´t have to download them from somewhere. Time plays a big role and you have to impress the club with the video.
If you don´t have such a video yet, borrow the camcorder, high quality camera and make a video, you need to make yourself visible, and without the video it will be very difficult.
Videos should be current and not 2-3 or more years old. Club wants to see your current form and actual power. If you have impressed with your video, you made the first part successful. More likely you will continue with testing in the club. It happens that you’re not the only player to test and therefore you must give your maximum. Another option how the club (scout, coach, manager) will find talents and potential players is that they travel to different countries throughout the season to see a player in action on the court and they can see his/her quality.
In the end you can include in your CV some links, where they can easily find your statistics.
It is very good to write what qualities you have, where is your power and what are your priorities, in what you differ from your opponents.
Everything is just a manual how to improve your resume if you already made one or you are just going to.
