What would be your advice for young sportsmen, so they could become famous as you are? When, where and how should they start?
Try and improve yourself every day by working hard. Be disciplined with your training and diet. Don’t let success or defeat get to your head … Just stay focused with your work ethic and habits. Most importantly never give up.
Is there a goal you didn´t achieve yet or is there a country you would like to try?
I would like to experience playing basketball in Italy, Greece or Switzerland before I finish playing basketball. Whether that is in 3×3 or 5×5 … I’ve traveled to many places, but never these countries. They look very beautiful and I love to travel to new places.
Were you talented from the very beginning, so you didn´t have to work hard on yourself or did you get to a point where you are right now with lots of hard work and many hours of training?
I was talented as a young sportsmen and had athletic ability in a variety of sports, but by no means was I naturally gifted growing up. Many kids were bigger, stronger, faster than I was, especially in High School and College, I developed later on in my career, but I worked tirelessly on my body through weight training, on court practice and good diet and healthy habits. I definitely would not be still playing if I did not practice and focus so hard on improving myself daily.
Are there any special abilities which player needs in your sport?
I think basketball is one of the hardest sports in the world. Especially 3×3 because the game is so fast and physical. I need to be strong, flexible, quick, coordinated and have great shooting touch. I need to be thinking all the time about our teams strategy and our opponents strengths and weaknesses. You also need to be a great teammate and have good interpersonal skills to have great chemistry with your teammates. The more teammates like each other, the better you will perform on the court together.
What would you refer to players so they could be successful?
You have to compete every time you step on the court. Never let someone outwork you or want it more than you do. Playing hard in sports is a skill just like shooting or dribbling or passing the ball. Some days you will feel better than others of course, but no matter what control your mind so you can bring the best out of yourself every time.
What are your plans after you finish your active career? Are you going to give out your rich experience to players as a trainer?
I could see myself as a full time skills trainer or coach. I want to help mentor younger kids and help them succeed in life, school, and basketball.
Are you a fan of other sports, do you watch other sports in your free time?
I watch a lot of other sports. Football, Tennis, Golf, American football etc, I like studying other athletes and learning about their habits and lifestyle as well.
Who was your idol when you started? Is there somebody who is still giving you an advice?
I’ve studied a lot of people in my sports career. Stephen Curry when he was at Davidson college, I played with his brother (Seth Curry) briefly in college. From the mental standpoint, I listend and watched a lot of Conor Mcgregor when he was coming up in his career, his mind was very strong in visualization and believing in himself and that’s why he was able to achieve great things.
