What should we pay attantion to
Here are a few points, that have played a very important role in recent years when hiring new players to the team:
1.) Highlights
These are usually the best moments of the match such as goals, points, defense, passes. A good highlight should not be too long, so that it entertains the person watching it. It is recommended to be a maximum of 4-8 minutes. The best highlight should be made by professionals who know how to handle videos. It is ideal to contact someone at your club who makes the videos and statistics of your games. You need to tell him exactly how you envision your highlight and what moments you would like to include in the video. Remember that coaches, first watch the highlights and only then, when he is interested in your short video, will ask you for your complete matches. (The coach watches your behavior during the whole match and is also watching your body language and especially the reactions to the various situations.)
2.) CV (Player’s sports profile)
It is best to put your data in the player’s sports profile, such as:
Name, age, height, weight, which side or hand you prefer (to use). In what clubs have you played. It is necessary to write the year, name of the club and, if so, what result has the team achieved and what competitions have you played with the team, for example:
2018-2019 Galatasaray, Turkey, (European CUP), 2nd place in Turkish League
2019-2020 Besiktas, Turkey, 7th place in Turkish League
It is also useful to mention whether you are a member of the national team and what results, competitions have you achieved and completed. Another thing to mention is the year and success you have achieved.
Example: Since 2015 MEN National team of Portugal
AWARDS:
2018- Winner of Champions league, MVP of the match
2017- Best young player of the team
3.) Statistics
Many scouts or coaches follow the statistics from the matches during the season. The statistics tell us whether the player is doing well or is only just a number. But this is not necessarily always the rule, because even players who don’t score points can make a very good (“dirty”) job for other players and then they can conjure up good positions and passes for their teammates who score. It is good to have good statistics, but it does not play the most important role in deciding whether a coach chooses a player. Other points which are also important are described below.
4.) Experience
Every player who has played for several years has enough experience and ordinary matches do not cause him any problems. By that we mean tremor (stress) from the match. The older player has on top of the younger one who did not play any important matches in front of several spectators for the title, cup, etc. Players who already have, could pass on the experience to their younger team mates. Clubs usually look at whether a player has played a “big” final match for medals and last but not least, what his behavior is during them. Each coach chooses the types of players according to how they fit in the team. Even a player who has scored 400 points per season does not have to fit into the team because they have a character that may not fit the coach. Coach may want a player who has scored fewer points, but he needs others to perform better and keeps the team together even in difficult times. All this can be traced in the important matches as the player performs under pressure where the experience plays a big role.
5.) References
If you are getting references about a player, you need to ask for more resources, because everyone can have a different view of the player. It is better to ask 3-5 independent people to form your own opinion. It happens that if we ask only one source, he didn’t have to have a relationship with the player and tell you things you don’t want to hear. We are all human beings, everyone can be wrong, so we need to form an overall picture of the player by asking more.
6.) Good health and physical fitness
Clubs usually test players physically or do medical examinations before they even sign a player. I want to be sure that the player is 100% ready. Therefore, I wonder if the player has not been seriously injured in the last 2-3 years, so that they know what they are capable of during the season and are not surprised by anything. This is what tests are for before the season, so that the clubs are sure of the player’s health
