The right value of a player
When thinking of the right value of a player we often ask ourselves questions: Am I being evaluated correctly? Why am I not earning more than my teammate if I’m better than him/her? Would I earn more in another team? Should I ask for more next season? Am I good enough to earn more? Answers to these questions can only time show.
In football and basketball, clubs know how to reach big numbers with younger players. “Future stars” can earn a lot when clubs are fighting for them, so the price of players is increasing really fast. If a club wants to get him for itself, it has to increase the amount. If the clubs will be interested in you the price will go up but, if not a lot of clubs show interest, you will have to accept what club has offered you.
On the contrary, when players make decisions, it is not always about the money. Many players choose (want to play) well-known clubs because they have very good training conditions and players in such clubs usually tend to go up with their performance or at least there is a much higher possibility to grow if they have the right conditions for training. If a young player gets on the field and wins a trophy, the value of the player’s increases every year.
The player must be in the right place at the right time to be noticed by some other good club or agent who will help him play his desired career in a good club. This means delivering 100% performance at all times. It is also very important to make the right decision according to the market situation. When we get an offer from the club and we keep telling ourselves that my value is higher and wont go below the price you set, it can easily happen that a better offer may not come. At the time of the covid 19, several players had to go under their price just to have a club. Simply said, “survive the season.”
There are lot of factors when determining the value of a player:
-was the player in a national team?
-what tropies has the player won?
-what were the statistics of the player in the last 3-5 years?
-was the competition he played good enough?
-giving stable performances?
-have other clubs shown interest in the player?
All this has to be taken into account and it is up to the club who is willing to invest in the player and is willing to play on the player for what amount.
